MAINE OBOE CAMP
TBD
Maine Maritime Academy, Castine Maine
For adults only

Maine Adult Camp

I have chosen the campus of the Maine Maritime Academy, in Castine Maine for our second Maine camp.  To learn more about this lovely campus, visit - www.mainemaritime.edu.  This 35 acre campus in Castine, is a beautiful peninsula located at the head of Penobscot Bay.  It is important to me to choose a location that truly represents the beauty of Maine.  This lovely campus is located within an hour of Bangor International Airport, an hour from the iconic Acadia National Park and many other amazing Maine sights.

My vision of the camp is what I am coining a "playcation", an opportunity to meet other adults that love the oboe and would like to continue learning about this amazing, challenging and beautiful instrument, while visiting my beautiful ancestral home, Maine.  There will be opportunities for master class instruction, reed making and chamber music, all provided by an array of amazing oboe teachers.   Along with the music, there will be ample time to see the sights, or just sit back on the shore and soak in the sounds.  Make some new friends, eat some great food, including a lobster dinner (my favorite).  I am also inviting family members to join in this journey. Fees are broken into a participant category and a guest category.  Fees are priced for occupancy with twin beds which include bedding, pillow and towels.  Air-conditioned dorm space with suites that can accommodate 2 adults, or a traditional dorm that will be a bit more cost conscientious.  All suites include one bedroom, a semi-private bathroom, small living area and a kitchen.  The more traditional dorm accommodates a single room with two twins and a shared bathroom.  While I have roughed it in Maine, most of us will enjoy these more modern amenities. (Maybe another visit, to my grandfather's old lodge).  Meals will be discussed in order to maximize some sight-seeing opportunities off site.

Events to be considered for extra curricular activities include a visit to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, Avena Botanicals (my sister's farm).  Some events will require additional fees to be paid individually, depending on the choices made by the group.   I will help expedite any of the choices.  My family has long been a part of the inn keepers of Maine, and I would like to continue sharing this hospitality.

Glad to have a new association with the New Horizons International Music Association, a wonderful organization dedicated to music making for adults with no musical experience or those that were active in school long ago.  www.newhorizonsmusic.org
